In order to actively respond to the national "One Belt, One Road" initiative, help Chinese companies go global, and give full play to the advantages of vocational education and training, Shanxi Engineering Vocational College will cooperate with Shanxi XGL Metal Material Development Co., Ltd. to cooperate with Harare Polytechnic in Zimbabwe to build an overseas college. On September 19, the three parties signed a memorandum of cooperation at Shanxi Engineering Vocational College and plan to sign a formal cooperation agreement at Harare Polytechnic in Zimbabwe in November this year.

This cooperation is led by Shanxi Engineering Vocational College, starting with the construction project of Shanxi XGL Metal Material Development Co., Ltd. in Zimbabwe, and forming the "Sino-Zimbabwe Shanxi Harare XGL College" with Harare Polytechnic in Zimbabwe. Around the six major professional fields of metallurgy, coal, coking, machinery, electricity, and safety, through non-academic training of technical skills, academic education, and formulation of international professional post standards, the advantages of all parties are brought into play, resources are integrated, and joint teaching of applied talents for the “Belt and Road Initiative”is carried out to achieve high-quality professional internationalization.

The types of majors involved in this cooperation are all Shanxi Engineering Vocational College's characteristic leading brands. Among them, the ferrous metallurgy major group is a "double high plan" A-level major group construction project. The intelligent mining major group, as the core of the mining engineering discipline of the "1331 Project", will also continue to be built into a new highland for cultivating high-tech talents in intelligent mining in Shanxi Province.

Relevant person in charge of Shanxi Engineering Vocational College said that this school-enterprise-school collaborative overseas education project will surely vigorously promote the construction of the college's international education faculty, the construction of high-quality international teaching resources, and transnational scientific research cooperation, which will help broaden the international visual field of China's vocational education and provide useful references for creating an international development model for vocational education with Shanxi characteristics. In the next step, the college will increase the pace of reform to adapt to the construction of a modern vocational education system and make every effort to promote new breakthroughs in the internationalization of vocational education.
